Thelma Audrey Rash Vaughn

WEAVERVILLE – Thelma Audrey Rash Vaughn, age 93, of Weaverville passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Laurels of GreenTree Ridge.

Mrs. Vaughn was born March 16, 1931, in Buncombe County where she lived all of her life. She was employed at Square D company and Mission Hospital. Thelma was a member of Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Alexander.

She was the daughter of the late Clinton V. and Amy Brown Rash and wife of the late Andrew J. Vaughn who died in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Buford Rash, Edith Greene, Herbert Rash, Charles Rash and Eleanor Swilling.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gwen Hammes and husband Harold Dean, and Susan Vaughn-Hix; sister, Dorothy Evans and husband H.B. of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren, Haley Hosler and husband Karl, H. Kaene Hammes and wife Caitlin, and Clarke Hammes and wife Holly; and great grandchildren, Conor, Daisy and Weston, Rowen and Margaret, and Ezekiel and Kirk, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday, January 6, 2025, at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm prior to the service. Rev. Eddie Rice, Rev. Larry Sprouse and Rev. Harold Rash will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
