WEAVERVILLE - Thomas Clyde Currie, Jr., age 71, of Weaverville passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Solace Center surrounded by his family.
Mr. Currie was born on March 20, 1951, in Henderson, North Carolina to the late Thomas Clyde Currie, Sr. and Lucy Anne Williams Currie.
Mr. Currie worked at Micro Switch in Mars Hill, and as a choir director. He served at multiple churches as a part time and full time minister of music, the majority of his career was spent at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he served for 17 years.
Tom Currie will always be remembered as a compassionate, encouraging, loving father and husband. He was a dedicated and talented choir director/ organist who loved the Lord and encouraged all to raise their voice (would always remind us) to praise the Glory of God.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Neta L. Currie; daughters, Phoebe Anne Currie Rogers (Matthew Wayne Rogers) and Allison Kaye Currie Brown (Adam Nathaniel Brown); siblings, Gayle Wimbrow, George Currie (Susan), Robert Currie (Barbara), Pam Grissom (Greg), Susan Winstead (Gary); grandchildren, Elijah Thomas Brown, Job Nathaniel Brown, Luke Justus Brown, Ian Matthew Rogers, and Liam Xavier Rogers; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A receiving of friends and memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1st, at Weaverville United Methodist Church to celebrate his life and love of music. The receiving of friends will begin at 1:00 pm followed by the memorial service at 2:00 pm.
