Timothy Alan Kelley, 64, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer knowing that he was loved and cherished.
Born on December 7, 1960, to Jim and Floy Kelley, Tim grew up in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, where he played football, basketball, and golf at Powell Valley High School. He earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Mars Hill College in 1983 and subsequently joined Crisp & Hughes (now Forvis) in Asheville. He spent his entire career as a CPA, becoming a partner in 1992 and retiring in 2010.
Tim was a member of First Baptist Church of Asheville; he enjoyed teaching and participating in his Bible Study class as well as serving on various committees through the years. His past involvement also included serving on the Board of Eliada (Home for Children) as both a member and as President of the Board, as well as President of the Eliada Foundation.
Upon retirement, Tim embraced his love of golf wholeheartedly, playing golf at the Country Club of Asheville nearly every day the course was open - he was lucky enough to sink two holes-in-one this year. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, often hiking and biking on their trips.
His last year included many special moments, including golfing in Scotland and attending the Masters, but none were more exciting than the birth of his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, LeeAnn; his children, Caitlin and Benjamin (Cassie), as well as his granddaughter, Blakely. He is also survived by his siblings: Diane Botts (Bob), Pam Kelley, Cathy Combs (Ed) and Dale Kelley (Penny), as well as his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Asheville, 5 Oak St., Asheville, NC 28801 and Eliada Home for Children, 2 Compton Dr., Asheville, NC 28806 or your favorite local charity in Tim’s honor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The day and time will be posted as soon as plans are finalized.
