TOMMY G. RICE WEAVERVILLE - Tommy G. Rice, age 77 of Weaverville passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2014. Tommy was born March 19, 1937 in Buncombe County to the late Hubert and Ada Carver Rice. He was an avid fox hunter and his occupation was a sheet rock finisher. Tommy was a Christian of the Baptist denomination. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Hixon Rice who died in 2003, sister, Wanda Green and brothers, Paul and Wayne Rice. Surviving are his sons, Raye Rice of Asheville, Rodney Rice and wife Amy of Weaverville and Dr. Kenneth "Kenny" Rice of Gainesville, FL; sister, Iva Kasal of Houston, Texas; mother of his children, Mary Lou Rice of Weaverville; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Clark Henderson officiating. West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville is in charge of arrangements.
