TONY EUGENE GUTHRIE
BARNARDSVILLE - Tony Eugene Guthrie, age 64, of 348 Haw Branch Road went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 4, 2014.
Tony was born September 1, 1950, in Buncombe County to the late Marcelle and Dorothy Harwood Guthrie. He was employed at Thermo Fisher Scientific for 20 years. Tony always felt blessed to have so many coworkers, whom he loved being around and spending time together.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Barbara Fox Guthrie; four children, Beverly Davis and husband Josh of Barnardsville, Pam Guthrie of Weaverville; Tim and Josh Guthrie of the home; three wonderful grandchildren, whom he enjoyed spending time with, Christopher and Jordan Hall of Barnardsville, and Lauren Guthrie of Weaverville; two brothers, Danny Guthrie and wife Susie of Barnardsville, Rex Guthrie of Mars Hill; two sisters, Mary Jane Thomas of Asheville and Bobbie Gail Ball and husband Darrel of Barnardsville; along with several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2014, in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church of which he was a member. Reverends Jonathan England and Brad Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Harwood Cemetery, Haw Branch Road, Barnardsville.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to service.
At other times, the family will be at the home.
