WEAVERVILLE—Lawrence Veldon Styles, age 50, of Weaverville, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital after a lengthy illness with diabetes.
Veldon was born August 19, 1962, in Buncombe County. He loved his outdoor sports of hunting, fishing, race cars, and especially his music. He was a graduate of A.C. Reynolds, class of 1980.
He is survived by his daughter, Whitney Jewel Styles of Asheville; his parents, Lawrence Maxwell and Marjorie Edwards Styles of Asheville; two sisters, Kathy Biddix and husband Tony of Weaverville, Vicki Crawley and husband David of Arden; two nephews, Joshua Ogle and wife Kim, and Joshua Crawley, all of Asheville; great niece, Jasmine Ogle of Asheville; two nieces, Rachel Biddix of Asheville and Christina Crawley of Mobile, Ala.; four uncles and six aunts; several cousins and many friends.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Mike Thomas and Rev. Charles Chandler officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral Home.
At other times, the family will be at the home of his parents, 12 Pleasant Ridge Dr., Asheville, NC 28805.
