WEAVERVILLE - Verlin Faye Silvers, age 99, of Weaverville went to be with The Lord Friday, December 25, 2020 in Johnson City, TN.
Miss Silvers was born October 23, 1921 in Yancey County to the late John W. and Julia Mae Sheppard Silvers; she had lived in Buncombe County most of her life. After 40 years of employment, she retired from American Enka. Verlin loved her family and she loved to travel, especially to the beach. Sewing and making a lot of her own clothes was something she enjoyed. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Weaverville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Obera Ray and brothers, Ernest Silvers and Van Silvers.
Surviving are her sister, Catherine Grooms of Johnson City; two nieces; five nephews; seven great nieces; three great nephews and several great great nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville. Reverends Dr. Stuart Lamkin and Dr. Jim McCoy will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.
