VIRGINIA GREGG CRAWFORD WEAVERVILLE – Virginia Gregg Crawford, age 87 of the Beech Community died Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Mrs. Crawford was born September 12, 1928 in Buncombe County to the late Noble and Sue Mundy Gregg. She was a member of Reems Creek Beech Presbyterian Church and attended Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church. Preceding her in death In addition to her parents was her husband Leonard Crawford who died in 1970; sons, C. Freddie and Douglas Crawford; grandson, Jeremy Davis; brothers, Ted and Bob Gregg; sister, Elizabeth Gregg. Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Tweed and husband Homer, Wanda Anderson and husband Jeff, Jo Metcalf and husband Robert; son, Wayne Crawford; sisters, Florence Willis, Edna Grace Whitt, Catherine Stirewalt; along with seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Homer Tweed and Phillip Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Penland Cemetery, Weaverville. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
