WEAVERVILLE—Virginia Roberts Morgan, age 92, of 534 Barnardsville Hwy., died Friday, March 25, 2011. Mrs. Morgan was born May 28, 1918, in Buncombe County to the late Tom Newt and Ethel Carter Roberts. After graduating from Mission Hospital's School of Nursing in 1942 as a registered nurse, she was employed at the V.A. Hospital in Oteen. She was a member of Morgan Hill Baptist Church and, since 1944, a member of the American Red Cross Nurse Corps. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Fred Morgan, who died in 1981, and her brother, R. Cline Roberts, who died in 2001. Survivors include her daughter, Charlene M. Young and husband Jim of Asheville; her son, Fred W. Morgan and wife Wanda of Lucama; sisters, Leta Whitaker and Anna Dillingham; sister-in-law, June Roberts, all of Asheville; six granddaughters, Natalie M. Horton and husband Eric, Kimberly M. Spivey and husband Zach, Kim Kloman and husband Keith, Amy Smith and husband Kevin, Jenny Kazemian and husband Frankie and Michelle Goodwin and husband Greg. Mrs. Morgan also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Gayle Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Her family wishes to thank the many physicians, nurses and caregivers who were responsible for the improvement of her life during her latter years.
