W. RALPH AYCOCK
LEICESTER – W. Ralph Aycock, age 96, of Leicester died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Aycock was born January 15, 1920 in Wayne County, NC to the late Murray and Bertha Edgerton Aycock. He was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. Mr. and Mrs. Aycock founded Orthopedic Appliance Co. in 1960. They continued to provide service to Western NC for 35 years before passing it over to the next generation. He was a member of Elkwood United Methodist Church. Mr. Aycock was also a member of Blackmer Lodge #170, AF & AM Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and was a member of Seniard Creek Hunting Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Aycock was preceded in death by his wife, LaDare Pearce Aycock who died in 1991; as well as seven brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his fiancée and companion, Fannie Buchanan; sons, Bill Aycock and wife Sandra, Owen Aycock and wife June; grandchildren, Will Aycock and wife Althea, Susanna Smith and husband Jason, Adam Aycock and wife Kristin, Bryan Aycock and wife Krista; great grandchildren, Ella Smith, Ty Aycock, Josiah Smith, Alivia Aycock, Karleigh Aycock, Christopher Aycock, and Cora Aycock.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Lynda Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday prior to the service.
