WEAVERVILLE—Rev. W. Jerry Jarvis, age 76, of 158 Mundy Cove Road died Saturday, August 6, 2011. Rev. Jarvis was born June 20, 1935 in Buncombe County where he had lived most of his life. He was a veteran of six years, serving in the US Army. After 25 years of service he retired from the Weaverville Postal Service. Rev. Jarvis pastored several churches and was currently the pastor at Paint Fork Freewill Baptist Church in Barnardsville. He was also a member and honorary deacon of Union Valley Church. His parents, Wilfred H. and Erma McMahan Jarvis as well as a sister, Jolene Carver preceded him in death. He is survived by his friend and loving wife of 52 years, Addie Barnes Jarvis; daughters, Tammy Ecklund and husband Dale and Tina Mundy and husband Dewayne all of Weaverville; sons, Tim Jarvis and wife Sheila, Michael Jarvis and wife Sharon, all of Barnardsville and Marty Jarvis and wife Kim of Weaverville; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, Trisha, Charity, Haley, Nathan, Kaitlin, Ryan and Michaela. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Revs. Burl Ledford, Weldon Ramsey and Coye Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans Section at West Memorial Park with Revs. Larry Coates and Earl Bailey officiating. Military honors will be provided by Mars Hill VFW Post 5483. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence. Flowers are welcome.
