Wanda White Sharpe

BARNARDSVILLE – Wanda White Sharpe, 80, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at her home in Barnardsville.

Wanda was born on May 9, 1943, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Dock White and Edna Tesner White. She is also preceded in death by an infant son, James Vernon Sharpe; a sister, Marjorie Griffin; and a brother, Reverend John C. White.

Wanda was a seamstress for many years. She was a member of Paint Fork Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Sam Sharpe and his wife Donna; sisters, Mary Jo Dillingham, Darlene Greene, Genevieve Stephenson and her husband Larry, and Barbara Ogle and her husband Dale; brothers Weldon White and his wife Patricia, and Clarence White; grandchildren Jessica Sharpe, Alana Ayers and her husband Steven; step-granddaughter, Amanda Carson; great-grandchildren Bridgette Ayers, Olivia Ayers, Eden Ayers, Jacob Carson, and Joshua Carson.

Wanda’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Reverend Kyle Hensley and Reverend Shane Lunsford will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at Paint Fork Cemetery at 527 Paint Fork Road in Barnardsville, NC.
