WENDELL L. PHILLIPS WEAVERVILLE – Wendell L. Phillips, age 74, of Weaverville went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at John F. Keever Solace Center. Mr. Phillips was born May 4, 1942 in Buncombe County, where he had lived all of his life. Wendell worked as a meat cutter and loved to fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Lula Holland Phillips. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Henrietta Roberts Phillips; sons, Victor Phillips and Ann, Jeffrey Phillips and wife Linda; brother, Howard Phillips and wife Barbara; grandson, Timmothy Phillips and wife Amber; step-grandchildren, Adam Bradley and wife Nicole, Anna Bradley; step-great grandson, Aidan Bradley; along with several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017, in Clark’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Weaverville, of which he was a member. Reverend Ray Kiess will officiate. Burial will be in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
