Wilburn Carl Buckner

     WEAVERVILLE – Wilburn Carl Buckner, 84, passed away on March 2, 2024 at Stonecreek Health & Rehabilitation.

     Wilburn was born on February 12, 1940 in Buncombe County. He is the son of the late Dollie McHone and William Paul Buckner. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ponese Evelyn Buckner; his son, Terry Buckner; and his grandson, Timothy Cole.

     He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Benkelman (Dave); his son, Jeff Buckner (Cynthia); his sister, Dorothy Roberts (Gary); grandchildren, Jason Cole and Monica Wright (Fredd); great grandchildren, Garrett Buckner and Issac Webb; his great-great grandson, Zeb Webb; caregiver, Teresa Simpson; and several nieces and nephews.

     Wilburn loved working on cars and building trailers. He had long careers as a mechanic at the Enka Plant, Robinson Brothers, and he retired in 2005 as a machinist at Rockwell.
