Wilburn "Junior" Emory, Jr., age 75, of Sugar Creek Rd., went home to be with Jesus Thursday, May 3, 2012. Junior was born July 24, 1936, in Buncombe County where he had lived all his life. He was the founder of Emory Electric. In his later years he attended Carson's Chapel Baptist Church and was concerned with the souls of others and their relationship with God. Junior's zest for life showed in all he enjoyed, especially his love for his work, fishing, camping, farming and being with his family. He was a lover of life, always content with what he had. He modeled for family, friends and co-workers a strong work ethic. His example was; live, love, laugh. Be who you are. He was the son of the late Wilburn Emory, Sr. and Lillian McClure Emory and was also preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Dean Emory; sister, Betty Fox; granddaughters, Tara Marie Higgins and Hunter Emory. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Alice Dillingham Emory, whom he married Aug. 29, 1955; daughters, Diane Fisher and husband Mitchell of Weaverville and Karen Banks and husband Terry of Barnardsville; sons, Tim Emory and wife Kim and Philip Emory and wife Melanie all of Weaverville; sisters, Wilma Jarvis of Mars Hill, Wruble Hammitt of Spartanburg, SC, Shirley Jackson of Morris Chapel, TN, Judy Wright of Allandale, SC, Elaine Revis of Weaverville and Sarah Robertson of Las Vegas, NV. He was Papaw to 16 grandchildren, Shane Higgins, Shad Higgins, Josh Banks, Zach Banks, Isaiah Banks, Terica Honeycutt, Kerry Tomberlin, Keather Emory, Ashley Emory, Madison Emory, Kayna Emory, Elisabeth Emory, Judah Emory, Abigail Emory, Hannah Emory, Mariah Emory and 13 great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 6, 2012 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Revs. Worth Emory and David Crowder officiating. Burial will be in Ivy Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM Saturday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
