WILLARD DEWITT “BUD” GARLAND
WOODFIN – Willard Dewitt “Bud” Garland, age 84, died Monday, January 18, 2016 at his home in Woodfin after a period of declining health.
A native of Mitchell County, he was born January 10, 1932 to the late Doss and Dorothy Garland. Bud lived most of his life in Woodfin, where along with his wife Opal Robinson Garland, he owned and operated the Stone House Clothing Store and Garland’s Greenhouse. Bud also served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kitty Garland Medford; and grandson, Nicholas Medford.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Opal Robinson Garland; son, Mike Garland and wife Janice; son-in-law, Jim Medford; granddaughters, Meredith Medford and Megan Medford.
His memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Mitch Wilson officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
