William "Bud" Banks

WEAVERVILLE – William “Bud” Banks, 80, died on January 15, 2024 at his home in Weaverville.

Bud was born on April 15, 1943 in Buncombe County, where he lived all of his life. He was the son of the late Conley Lee and Clara Holden Banks. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Josie Banks and Marie Hollifield; and his brother, Charles Banks.

Bud was co-owner of Honeycutt and Banks Roofing and Sheet Metal Company. He enjoyed camping and being outdoors. He always said that his main hobby was his work.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Tackett Banks; his daughter, Becky Malone (Terry); his sons, Tony Banks (Carla) and Larry Wayne Banks (Patricia); his sisters, Martha Sellers, Christine Martin, and Molly Tauscher; grandchildren, Becca, Dirk (Kim), Samantha (Ryan), Kelli, Chris, Anna, and Dalton; great-grandchildren, Logan, Regan, Tressa, Hannah, Everleigh, Trinity, and Leann; and great-great-grandchild, Wrenley Jae.

Bud’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow at West Memorial Park.
