WILLIAM “BILL” VAUGHN GRINDSTAFF, SR.
WEAVERVILLE – William “Bill” Vaughn Grindstaff, Sr., age 81 of Weaverville died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Charles George VA Medical Center.
Mr. Grindstaff was born June 6, 1935 in Madison County where he had lived most of his life. He was a resident of Weaverville for the past 8 years and was a retired insurance agent. He had proudly served in and retired from the US Air Force. He was a dedicated member of California Creek Baptist Church, Mars Hill. His parents, William Jackson and Cilla English Grindstaff as well as five siblings preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Melba Honeycutt Grindstaff; sons, William Grindstaff, Jr. and “special friend” Kate Henderson of Asheville, and Vince Grindstaff of Atlanta, GA; step son, Dana Louis Snyder and wife Lana of Winder, GA; sisters, Irene Blankenship of Asheville and Clella Delany of Weaverville; one grandchild Levi Grindstaff and wife Kaycie and three step grandchildren, Windsor Creech and husband Doug, Jobie-Leigh Snyder and Charlie-Len Snyder.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Wesley Pike officiating. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
