CARY—William "Bill" Horton, age 92, of Cary, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
Mr. Horton was born July 23, 1920, in Stockdale, Ohio, and was a resident of Dayton, Ohio, for most of his life. He resided in Conover a number of years before moving to Cary three years ago. He was a retired Civil Service employee and a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Dulcie Jackson Horton; wife, Myrtle Hutchins Horton who died in 2007; sister, Emmer Wiggenhorn; and brother, Frank Horton.
Surviving are his daughters, Kay Bailey and husband John of Dayton, Ohio, and Wanda Shinn and husband David of Cary; sisters, Ruth Evans of Saxonburg, Pa., Edna Buhrmaster of St. Paris, Ohio, and Josephine Zeigler of Wellston, Ohio; grandchildren, John Bryan Bailey and Carolyn Shinn; and great granddaughter, Ja'Ziah Bailey.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Mickey Moree officiating. Burial will be in Haynie Family Cemetery, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
