WILLIAM C. KEYS, SR.
ASHEVILLE – William C. Keys, Sr., of Asheville died Sunday, March 13, 2016 on his 101st birthday.
Mr. Keys was born March 13, 1915 in Washington, D.C. and lived most of his life in Asheville. He was a self-employed dental technician and operated Keys Dental Lab for many years in the Flat Iron building in downtown.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid collector of World War I memorabilia and a self-taught war historian. Son of the late William Henry Keys and Pearl Mosseller Keys; he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Buckner Keys who died in 2013.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda Keys Hanks and husband Father Alex Hanks; son, William C. Keys, Jr. and wife Marsha P. Keys all of Asheville; sister, Doris Keys Woody of Marion and grandchildren, Micah Hanks, Caleb Hanks and Lauren Keys all of Asheville and Rev. Erin Keys of New York.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Church of the Redeemer, 1201 Riverside Dr., Asheville. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
