WILLIE MAE SPRINKLE
WEAVERVILLE–Willie Mae "Granny" Sprinkle, age 95, of 620 Locust Grove Road died Thursday, September 11, 2008.
Mrs. Sprinkle was born August 1, 1913 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She and her husband owned and operated Guy Sprinkle Store on Jupiter Road for a number of years. Willie Mae was a life long member of Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a devout Christian and was devoted to her family. She was the daughter of the late Jerome and Rena Roberts Wilde and wife of the late Guy W. Sprinkle who died in 1977. She was also preceded by her brothers, Leonard and Brank Wilde.
She is survived by her sons, Hoyt W. Sprinkle and wife Jean of Jonesborough, Tenn. and Malcom J. Sprinkle and wife Alice of Weaverville; grandchildren, Hoyt Sprinkle II and wife Maryly of Johnson City, Tenn., Gwen Sprinkle, Brandon Sprinkle and wife Laura and Tonya Sprinkle Lawing and husband Michael all of Weaverville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Locust Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Ben Whitmire and D. Harry Culbertson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the services. At other times the family will be at the residence.
