WILMA ROSE WALLIN BUCKNER WEAVERVILLE - Wilma Rose Wallin Buckner, age 95 of Weaverville died Friday, November 6, 2015. Mrs. Buckner was born May 17, 1920 in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a teacher in Buncombe County schools for 34 years, teaching mainly at Weaverville and French Broad. She loved gardening, teaching vacation bible school and Sunday school at Alexander Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, Weaverville where she was a member. A daughter of the late Hubert and Ellen Chandler Wallin, she was also preceded in death by infant daughter, Sharon. Wilma dearly loved and lived for her family. Surviving are her husband of 71 years Lloyd Buckner; son, Danny Buckner and wife Kathy; sister, Darlene Holcombe; brother, Harold Wallin; grandchildren, Shane Buckner and wife Michelle, Rachael Phillips; great grandchildren, Caleb Buckner and Dominic Phillips. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 8, 2015, in First Baptist Church, Weaverville, with Reverend Jim McCoy officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday prior to the service at the church. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
