WILMA HENSLEY CHEEK AYERS
WEAVERVILLE / MAIDEN - Wilma Hensley Cheek Ayers, age 79 of Maiden, NC died Thursday, July 23, 2015.
Born in Madison County, Wilma lived most of her life in Buncombe County. A graduate of UNCA, she was a retired teacher and had taught in Fairview, Barnardsville and Weaverville Primary School. She was a daughter of the late Mac Hensley and Vista Boone Hensley Fender. Her step-father Dewey Fender also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughters, Cathy Byers and husband James of Maiden, Susan Harris and husband Donnie of Weaverville; son, Michael Cheek of Maiden; sister, Maxine Peace and husband Charles of Duluth, GA; granddaughters, Kim Briggs and husband Simon of Advance, Stephanie Rice of Weaverville, Jaimie Cheek of Candler; great grandson Sam Briggs; and great granddaughter, Camila Rice.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Danny Jenkins officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County, 107 North Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
