WOODFIN—Wincie Lee Biggs, age 86, of Weaverville Hwy. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 12, 2012. Mr. Biggs was born March 26, 1926, in Buncombe County. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a US Army veteran serving during World War II, and he retired from Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries. Mr. Biggs was a former deacon and member of Long's Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Greenberrie and Tricie Buckner Biggs; brothers, Roy, Howard, George, and Charles Biggs; sisters, Pansey Young and Helen Robinson; son-in-law, Harry Kemp; and granddaughter, Jessica McKinney. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Burnette Biggs; children, Lanell Hensley (Junior), LaVada Kemp, Brenda McKinney (David), and David Biggs; sister, Mafrey Barnwell; grandchildren, Danny Hensley (Melissa), Jeremy Hensley (Amanda), David McKinney; Selena Snodgrass (Justin), Zachary Kemp (Lindsey), Gregory Kemp, Phillip Kemp (Amanda), and Alan Biggs; and 16 great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, November 15, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Revs. James Hutchinson and Larry Sprouse officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW #5483 Mars Hill Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Volunteer Services Department, VA Hospital, 1100 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Home Health Care staff at the VA Medical Center.
