Yetive Roberts Ponder

WEAVERVILLE—Yetive Roberts Ponder went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Born July 31, 1923 in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Canary Roberts and Linda Shepherd Roberts. She was married for 47 years to the late Rev. Cecil Lemuel Ponder who passed away in June 1986. She was also the sister of the late Mildred Roberts Young and Julia Roberts. Mrs. Ponder was a loving Mother whose greatest joy was caring for her family and home. Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Rev. Walter C. Ponder and wife Carole, Cecile Ponder Gudger and husband Butch; seven grandchildren, Wally Ponder, Angela Springsteen, Adam Ponder, Andrew Ponder, Andrea Ponder Dodd, Stephanie Webb and Christy Gudger; and eighteen great-grandchildren, Makayla, Lexi, Olivia, Taylor and Sierra Springsteen, Lauren and Andrew Webb, Anna Grace, Ansli, Avari, Adason, Ashdan, and Anderson Ponder, Kohen and Kolby Ponder, Logan and Morgan Dodd, Zeus Ponder. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Locust Grove Baptist Church in Weaverville, of which she was a faithful member. Her son Rev. Walter Ponder, her grandson Rev. Adam Ponder and her Pastor Rev. Ben Whitmire will officiate. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mrs. Ponders daughter, Cecile Gudger, 31 Terrace Lane, Weaverville.
