Bruce Alan Youngberg



ASHEVILLE – Bruce Alan Youngberg, age 62, of Asheville, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

Mr. Youngberg was born May 21, 1956 in Montgomery County, Maryland. He was a resident of Buncombe County for 35 years. Bruce was raised Seventh Day Adventist and attended Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, VA. He graduated in 1985 with a degree in Architecture from UVA and worked with Cort Architectural Group for 31 years. Bruce was a man of faith and a lover of life. He was honorable and soft spoken; loved UVA basketball and racing. He loved architecture, his family, his grandchildren and watching them play baseball, he was proud of his children, and loved his wife, Faye, with all of his heart. Bruce took on a fatherly role for many; he impacted and loved everyone he came in contact with. He was preceded in death by his father, James Rowland Youngberg.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Faye Youngberg; mother, Elizabeth Simmons Youngberg of Chattanooga; daughter, Tracy Wells and husband Ray; son, Alan Youngberg and fiancée, Hannah Ulrich; sister, Carol Klinger and husband Dean of Chattanooga; brother, David Youngberg and wife Carla of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Dylan and Tristan Wells; and several nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly, including Eddie Jordan, Billy Freck, Brandon Freck and Heidi Dull.

His service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 1, 2018 in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.

The family will receive friends 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville.
