Carolyn Jeanette Ward Clark

d. June 24, 2018

ASHEVILLE – Carolyn Jeanette “Suzie” Ward Clark, age 75, of Asheville, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, June 24, 2018 after an extended period of care. Carolyn was born November 10, 1942 and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was one of nine children of the late George Edward and Thelma Lee Smith Ward. Carolyn worked for many years at Mills Manufacturing producing parachutes for military use, but seemed to take great pleasure in her later years working in home care for the elderly. A devout Christian and consummate animal lover, she enjoyed the act of giving, most of all. She possessed a quiet dignity, and was always willing to put the needs of others ahead of her own. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, and true love, Ted Arnold Clark who died in 1982, to who’s memory she remained faithful for the rest of her life; her one and only son, Jackie Leonard Clark, who died in 2006; two brothers, Ross and Richard Ward, and two sisters, Areda Ward and Sandra Sams. Surviving are her sisters, Ruby Smart, Geraldine Hall and Dana Byrd; brother, Jack Ward; daughter-in-law, Kaylynne Graham Clark; four grandsons, Adam and wife Andrea, Jonathan, Samuel and wife Angela, Joshua and wife Celia; nine great grandchildren, Brayden, Esaias, Hosanna, Jack, Elora, Branch, Elijah, Isaac, and Ivy; and a large extended family. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Ronald Dodson will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A light is lit in heaven while the world below seems a little less bright. All our love goes with you. Flowers are welcome and appreciated.
