WEAVERVILLE – H. Edward “Ed” Anderson, age 92 passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 after a long life well lived. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 13, 1926 to the late Jasper Hubert Anderson and Marie Bernice Elrich Anderson, he served two tours of duty in the United States Navy. Ed enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the investment management industry, retiring to the mountains of North Carolina in 1991. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Anderson; eldest son, David Anderson; brother, Jim Anderson and sister, Betty Thompson. A lifelong learner, avid reader and tennis player, he served as an example and role model for all that were fortunate to have known him. His keen intellect, subtle sense of humor and kindness will be missed, rest in peace. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan Patterson Anderson; son, Daniel Anderson and wife Cathy; daughters, Pamela Bassett and Julie Melville and grandchildren, Cayla Anderson, Alyssa Anderson, Andrew Bassett and Christopher Bassett. His memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the chapel of West Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the service. The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice for their care of Ed. A special thanks to Beth Hunt for her loving care that enabled him to be at home.
