ALEXANDER – Celia Christine McPeters McGalliard, age 76 of Alexander, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Mrs. McGalliard was born November 9, 1941 in Yancey County to the late Alvin Woodrow and Myra Faye Ray McPeters; she was a resident of Alexander for most of her life. She worked at Three Mountaineers and Ethan Allen. Christine enjoyed working in her church, Mt. Zion Independent Freewill Baptist Church, where she had previously served as a Sunday school teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Inez Fox. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Arvil McGalliard; daughter, Denise and husband Reverend Donald Davis; sisters, Marie Davis, Juanita Nash and husband Buddy, Patsy Cook and husband Raymond, Dana Kay Gentry and husband Jim; brother, Reverend Roy McPeters and wife Teresa; grandchildren, Buddy Davis and wife Alaina, Julie McKinney and husband Ryan; great-grandchildren, Paisley McKinney and Mason McKinney. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Mt. Zion Independent Freewill Baptist Church, 86 Mt. Zion Church Rd., Marshall. Reverends Woody Dillingham, Roy McPeters, and Donald Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Grandview Baptist Church Cemetery, Alexander. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service at the church. West Funeral Home is assisting the family.
