Mary Sevier Haerle Carson

WEAVERVILLE / MATTHEWS – Mary Sevier Haerle Carson, age 96, of Matthews formerly of Weaverville, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Mrs. Carson was born September 24, 1924, in Buncombe County to the late William Eugene Augustus Sevier and Wenona Ramsey Sevier.  She had lived in Weaverville for many years and resided in Matthews for the past 40 years. Mary was a retired receptionist who worked for Dr. L.T. Sprinkle for many years.  She loved people, especially her family.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Vance Haerle who died in 1951 and Charles Alton Carson who died in 1979; brothers, James “Dickie” Sevier and Charles C. Sevier, II.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Lewis and husband Bill of Matthews, NC; two grandsons, Sid Lewis and wife Mary Jo and family, and Alton Lewis and wife Jenni; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2021, in West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts Street, Weaverville. Reverend Marjory Keiss will officiate.
