Nancy Louise Yount Lunsford

BARNARDSVILLE – Nancy Louise Yount Lunsford, age 77, of Barnardsville, passed away peacefully at her residence, Sunday August 8, 2021.

Mrs. Lunsford was born October 28, 1943 to the late John Henry and Idell Banks Yount, and was a Buncombe County resident most of her life. Nancy worked for the FBI straight out of high school; the Buncombe County School system and was the district supervisor for Austin Powder until her retirement.  She loved canning vegetables, crocheting, watching hummingbirds and cardinals, and messing with her flowers.  She lived for her dog, Snoopy and was a kind, strong woman who took care of people.  Nancy would do anything she could to help you.  She enjoyed family meals and getting people together.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Loy Carl Lunsford who died in 2007.  

Surviving are her son, David Lunsford and wife Brenda; daughter, Judy Lunsford; grandchildren, David Freeman, Victoria Arrington, and Avery Anders; sisters, Peggy Carson, and Mary Whitson and husband Michael “Tony”; and special foster daughter, Ann Rogers.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Steve Freeman will officiate.  Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
