Lewis Ewell

Obituary of Lewis Raymond Ewell

Lewis Raymond Ewell, age 76, earned his angel wings on December 20, 2021.

Mr. Ewell was born March 23, 1945, in Elkton, MD to the late Robert Leonard and Eleanor May Batty Ewell. In his early years, Lew’s family moved to Florida where he later, joined the Army National Guard and served from 1965 to 1971. After leaving the National Guard, he worked as a painter for Honeywell. He later moved to North Carolina where he worked as Executive Housekeeper for several hotel companies and Lake Junaluska Conference Center.

In 2007 Lew retired from the workforce which gave him a lot of extra time to do the things he enjoyed most, gardening, doing yard work and working on projects in his workshop. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch and eating Oreo cookies. A model train enthusiast, he always had his trains and villages setup on platforms underneath his Christmas tree; a tradition handed down by his father.

Lew had a trait that a lot of people do not have, he cared for everyone. He was a kind, loving and giving person that would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed one.

He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Aimee Crowe of St Petersburg, FL, Jessica Tipton (Lester) of Weaverville, NC, Jennifer Wilson (Bruce) of Barnardsville, NC; sons, William “Bill” Ewell of Pigeon Forge, TN and Richard Ewell (Amy) of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Cody Duncan (Stephanie), Rio Crowe (Bradley), Justice Cooper (Dusten), Autumn Jones (Gage), and Travis Wilson (Emily); great-grandchildren, Brantley, Logan and Mckenzie Cooper, Colton and Adelyn Jones, Thane Duncan, and Lucas Wilson; and two more great grandchildren due in 2022.
