Marvin Mackey

WEAVERVILLE- Marvin Mackey, 89, went to be with the Lord March 26, 2022. Mr. Mackey was born September 14, 1932, to the late Austin and Eujenia Mackey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Birty Mackey in 2021, his brothers L.B, Charles, John, and Sam and sisters Frances, Lucile, and Carolyn.

Left to cherish his memory is his son Dewain and daughter-in-law Kathy, and grandchildren Christopher, Bethany (Jordan) Burgin, great granddaughter Lorrie Ann and sisters Isabelle Cole, Carlie Boyer, and Marie Clauhs and lots of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mackey worked for Merchants Construction, Price and Ray Contractors, and retired as self- employed. Mr. Mackey was of the Baptist faith, and an ordained deacon, in which he served the Lord faithfully for many years. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. His grandchildren were the light of his life. There wasn't a play, ceremony, or home game that he didn't attend.

A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday night March 29, 2022, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville. A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday March 30, 2022, at Clark's Chapel Cemetery. Reverend’s Larry Sprouse and Dalton Ramsey will officiate.
